‫جامعة الأمير محمد بن فهد تسعى إلى تعليم شباب اليوم ليصبحوا قادة الغد كمواطنين أكفاء عالميًا

لتمكين الشباب من النجاح بهذه الطريقة في جميع أنحاء العالم ومع التركيز بشكل خاص على منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا ، أسست جامعة الأمير محمد بن فهد (PMU) نفسها كمركز لتنمية المواطنين العالميين. تقود جامعة الأمير محمد بن فهد عملية إنشاء برامج واستراتيجيات فعالة لتدريس الكفاءات العالمية التي تشمل المعرفة والمهارات والسمات المطلوبة من قادة الغد.

تعد هذه المبادرة جزءًا من غرس ثقافة التعلم مدى الحياة، وتمكين الشباب من اكتساب الكفاءات العالمية وتطويرها وامتلاكها وبناءها واكتسابها. يمكن لهذه الكفاءات، بدورها، أن تساعد في حل المشكلات الاجتماعية والأكاديمية والمهنية التي سيواجهها جميع الناس على وجه الأرض بطريقة أو بأخرى في العقود القادمة.

Sudan expects 80% of its foreign debt be written off in June

May 19, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – Sudanese Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok has expected the creditor nations would cancel 80 per cent of $60 billion debt Sudan owes them next June.

Hamdok arrived in Khartoum on Wednesday night after his participation in an international conference organized by President Emmanuel Macron to remove Sudan’s foreign debt and attract investments, with the participation of about 40 countries and a global front.

Speaking to the press after his return to Khartoum, he said the Paris conference enabled his country to fulfil the fifth and final and final condition before reaching the Decision Point thanks to a 1.5 billion bridge loan from France to clear IMF arrears.

The Sudanese government has already fulfilled 4 conditions under the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) programme which provides debt relief for low-income nations.

“So, we have fulfilled all conditions (for debt forgiveness), and by the end-June 2021, we will reach the Decision Point,” he said.

“We expect to be exempt from about 80% of the debt, equivalent to 44-46 billion dollars,” he further added.

After the French loan Sudan has reached the Completion Point, which qualifies the east African country for debt relief under the HIPC Initiative, and for debt relief under the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI) from the World Bank’s IDA and the African Development Fund (AfDF), together with beyond-HIPC assistance from the IMF.

Paris Club creditors are also expected to provide further beyond-HIPC assistance at the Completion Point.

Sudan’s $60-billion debt is the biggest to be treated under the HIPC to date.

Meeting with Saudi minister

Before t return to Khartoum, Hamdok met with Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan to discuss negotiations with Sudan’s creditor countries that are not members of the Paris Club.

The Saudi government has pledged to work jointly with Khartoum to tackle Sudan’s debit with countries outside the Paris Club including China, Kuwait, the Emirates and Japan.

Also, China has pledged to raise Sudan’s economic support during the upcoming G20 meeting which will be held next October in Rome.

Sudanese army, Ethiopian militiamen clash on border areas

May 19, 2021 (GADAREF) – The Sudanese army on Wednesday managed to expel Ethiopian militiamen from some border areas, while others attacked Sudanese fishermen in another location.

Ethiopian militiamen from the Amhara Region have continued to attack Sudanese farmers since April 2020 when the central government in Khartoum changed the policy of the ousted regime towards their presence in the Sudanese territory.

Also, the Government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed denounced the border demarcation agreements signed between the two countries and claimed the ownership of the al-Fashaga border area in the Gadaref State.

The Sudanese Armed Forces and the local Reserve Forces retook control of about 20,000 acres after clashes with the Ethiopian militiamen, a military source told the Sudan Tribune on Wednesday

The fierce battles took place east of Sundus, in the Eastern Gallabat locality, east of Jabel Tayyara.

The military official did not speak about the causalities from the two sides but added that they seized five settlements that had been controlled by Ethiopian farmers and their militias since 1995.

In a related development, Ethiopian militias sneaked into Sudanese territory by about five kilometres in the Musha Al-Fursan area in the Quraisha border locality of Gadaref and assassinated a fisherman after he resisted an attempt to kidnap him.

Sudanese farmers, shepherds, and fishermen renewed calls on the Sudanese army to deploy forces in their area and organize patrols in the rugged area located between Wad Um Tawkol and Lafat Junun near the Rahad River.

The location is one of the areas that have been used by the Ethiopian militias and the Shifta gangs for their regular attacks on Sudanese herdsmen, farmers and fishermen.
