HAVAL JOLION’s International Design for Global Users

BAODING, China, May 29, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Recently, GWM has released several globally-oriented new models, among which is HAVAL JOLION, originally inspired by the concept “JOY LIFE ON”, which has attracted a large number of users. To decode the new model’s high popularity, we had the honor of inviting Design Director Christopher Zarlenga to interpret the creative ideas of HAVAL JOLION.

HAVAL JOLION’s International Design for Global Users

Christopher said that its design inspiration came from a group of skater boys on the street. Touched by their energy and passion, Christopher came up with the concept “JOY LIFE ON”, in hopes of delivering an optimistic life attitude to global users.

Christopher explains that, “This enjoyment is brought to you by the user experience, by the design, by the joy on life concept we designed into the vehicle.” JOLION presents a fashionable style, while it is also a nice partner in urban life. For this model, six colors are available, including Hamilton White, Mars Red, Energy Green, Ayers Grey, Blue Sapphire, and Golden Black. Each color represents an image and reflects a personality, which may vary among people. The golden-ratio bodywork and the flexible flowing waist line enable its simple exquisiteness, presenting space for the imagination. Together with a smart and sharp front face, “halberd” type front LED headlamps, and luxury grille, this elegant SUV is vigorously dynamic, instantly awakening youth. In addition, it is designed with a comfortable cockpit and 26 storage places. Even large bottled drinks can be easily stored in the compartment in the door, allowing a more pleasant trip for gatherings. Moreover, intelligent technology brings about a better driving experience. With internetworking enabled, the central control screen and mobile phones can be easily connected as desired. Even in the car, users can experience the joy of being in a media room–playing games, watching movies, it is truly amusing. For those who are inexperienced or not good at parking, the one-key automatic parking provides great relief for a leisurely shopping experience. There are four driving modes, including Standard, Sport, Economy and Snow. The Snow mode can avoid track slip, the Sport mode provides a great back-pressing feeling with its amazing acceleration capability, the Economy mode immediately reduces the base fuel consumption; multiple options are offered to activate your free driving.

As Christopher said, “The forward-looking design is to bring value and high performance to the user. When usability and convenience meet in design, it’s designed for everybody.”

“JOY LIFE ON” focuses on consuming joy. More importantly, it values turning a happy life into productivity and becoming the master of fate. In terms of the design concept, the GWM has always emphasized “breakthrough innovation”. In particular, when it comes to feelings and culture, it has adhered to a user-centric principle and enabled vehicles to integrate into users’ lives and bring them values. In the future, by sticking to the approach of global car building, the GWM will produce more high-performance products, featuring both high-quality appearance and emotional experience.

CGTN: China gears up for sci-tech development, focusing more on self-reliance

BEIJING, May 29, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Almost two weeks ago, China succeeded in its first Mars landing, attracting world’s attention to the important milestone in China’s space exploration.

On Friday, science and technology as strategic support to national development, focusing on self-sufficiency and innovation, was once again highlighted in the country’s development roadmap with the convention of the 10th national congress of the China Association for Science and Technology in Beijing.

Sci-tech self-sufficiency and self-reliance

Accelerated efforts are needed in building China into a leading country in science and technology and achieving sci-tech self-reliance and self-sufficiency at higher levels, said Chinese President Xi Jinping while addressing the meeting attended by about 3,000 people.

Noting the importance of making breakthroughs in core technologies in key fields, President Xi stressed building a modern science and technology system with the innovation confederations led by leading enterprises, supported by universities and institutions, and coordinated innovation entities.

He pointed out that it is necessary to spur on the problem solving in major sci-tech tasks, targeting the most urgent and pressing problems, and proceed from the immediate and long-term needs of the country.

Basic and original research are critical in expanding new cognitive frontiers, he added.

China’s pursuit of independence in scientific innovation is reflected in its various achievements, including the Beidou Navigation Satellite System, the space exploration including lunar and Mars probes and the construction of China’s own space station, and the deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe. The country has also developed its own high-speed railway technologies, 5G communication technologies and artificial intelligence.

He also stressed the role of national laboratories and scientific research institutions, high-level research universities, and leading enterprises in science and technology, calling on them to make more strategic and key scientific and technological achievements and strive to solve major scientific and technological problems that affect China’s overall development and long-term interests.

Important are efforts in cultivating top-notch scientific and technological personnel with global influence, steadily supporting a number of innovation teams, and training more high-quality technical and skilled personnel, Xi said.

Innovation-driven development strategy

President Xi restressed the importance of innovation in the pursuit of developing and shaping the new development advantages mentioned in China’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for national economic and social development and the long-range objectives through to the year 2035.

In 2016, the Chinese government set the target to make China one of the most innovative countries by 2020 and a leading innovator by 2030, as well as a leading global S&T power by the 100th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 2049.

Efforts are needed in deepening the reform of the sci-tech system and form a basic system that supports all-around innovation, Xi said, adding that full play should be given to the role of the state as an organizer of major scientific and technological innovations.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as national strategic scientific and technological forces, should play a leading role, Xi noted, adding that the China Association for Science and Technology should shoulder the responsibility of the bridge between the government and the scientific and technological workers.

He called for efforts to get deeply engaged in global scientific and technological governance in areas such as public health and climate change, and make Chinese science and technology to contribute more to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The Chinese president also extended greetings to sci-tech workers across the country ahead of China’s national sci-tech workers’ day, which falls on May 30.

ICC prosecutor starts 7-day visit to Sudan to meet Darfur victims

May 29, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – Fatou Bensouda Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, (ICC) arrived in Khartoum Saturday, on a week-long visit to Sudan including the Darfur region.

During her visit to Sudan, Bensouda will meet Sudanese government officials before travelling to Darfur where she will meet the affected communities, particularly the victims of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Last Monday, the outgoing prosecutor told the pre-trial court that the prosecution charges the militia leader Ali Kushayb with 31 counts of crimes of torture, rape, and murder of civilians committed in West Darfur between August 2003 and April 2004.

She revealed her visit to Darfur saying it aims to thank the victims and the other groups or individuals for their witnesses and support to the ICC investigations.

“I will be expressing this sincere sentiment when I visit Sudan, including Darfur next week in my last mission to the country as ICC Prosecutor,” she stated.

In October 2020, Bensouda was in Khartoum seeking the transitional government’s cooperation to enable her office to carry out the needed investigation before Kushyab’s trial. Also, she discussed ways to hold accountable al-Bashir and his former aides indicted for war crimes in Darfur.

Meeting with Minnawi

Minni Minnawi the appointed Governor of the Darfur region met with the visiting ICC prosecutor and praised her endeavours to achieve justice in Darfur.

In press statements after the meeting, Minnawi hailed the attention that she has shown to the “victims of war and genocide” in Darfur. He further stressed the need to hand over to the ICC all the indicted criminals starting with the ousted President Omer al-Bashir and Ahmed Haroun.

“It is important that Haroun be handed over to the ICC because the crimes that Kushayb had committed are closely linked to Haroun,” he stressed.

During the first years of the counterinsurgency campaign, Haroun was the state minister for the interior. He provided weapons and funds to the militia leaders on the grounds and supervised their action.

For her part, Bensouda reiterated she wants to take this opportunity to thank Darfurians and the leadership of Darfur for the resilience that they have demonstrated.

“Even though I’m going my team and my successor will continue with the same dedication and the same commitment that we have always exhibited towards this case,” she added.

Sall calls to use the Senegal River’s experience to settle GERD dispute

May 29, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – Senegalese President Macky Sall called to follow the experience of the Senegal River countries to settle the dispute between Sudan, Ethiopia and Egypt over the Renaissance Dam.

On Saturday, Sudanese Foreign Minister Mariam al-Mahdi met with Senegalese President Macky Sall within the framework of a regional tour in western Africa.

The meeting with Sall who is also the First Vice-Chairperson of the African Union discussed bilateral ties and the existing dispute with Ethiopia over the filling and operation of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

According to a statement issued by the Sudanese Foreign Ministry, on Saturday, al-Mahdi briefed Maky about Sudan’s position on the filling and operation of the giant dam.

She reiterated Sudan’s keenness on African solutions to African issues pointing that the Sudanese initiative for a quartet of mediators led by the African Union comes within this spirit.

The Sudanese top diplomat further expressed Sudan’s desire to see the Senegalese president contributing to the ongoing efforts to reach an agreement before the second filling of the GERD planned for next July.

Addis Ababa rejects the initiative to sign a legally binding agreement on the Renaissance Dam, stressing that it has full right to the waters of the Blue Nile that originates from the Ethiopian Lake Tana.

President Sall suggested using the experience of the Senegal River Basin Development Organization (OMVS) which includes Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal and establishing cooperative management that serves the common goals of the riparian countries.

“Senegal’s experience of more than 40 years with the OMVS represents a successful experience of cooperative partnership based on joint investment projects and can serve as a model for resolving the issue of the Renaissance Dam,” he said according to the statement.

“Sall added he would raise this matter at the meeting of the AU Bureau and would reach out to President of Congo Félix Tshisekedi who is also the President of the African Union to discuss ways to reach a solution satisfactory to all parties,” added the Sudanese foreign ministry.

A view of Zhaojin Town, Tongchuan City, northwest China's Shaanxi Province. /Government of Tongchuan City
