Bybit CEO Announces Seamless Fiat Integrations in Keynote Address

UN condemns sexual violence against Sudan women

The United Nations has condemned what it called rising sexual violence against women and girls in Sudan in more than two months of conflict.

The UN human rights office in Sudan said it had received credible reports of more than 20 incidents of conflict-related sexual violence against at least 57 women and girls.

It said that in one incident as many as 20 women were raped in the same attack.

The UN’s chief humanitarian official, Martin Griffiths, said it was unconscionable that Sudan’s women and children were being traumatised in this way.

UNIFIL: OUR LIAISON MECHANISMS HAVE BEEN FULLY ENGAGED TO PREVENT FURTHER ESCALATION

The UNIFIL said, in a statement on Thursday, that ‘shortly after 8:00 a.m., UNIFIL peacekeepers detected explosions near Al-Majidiya. We could not confirm the origin or cause of the explosions at the time, but sent peacekeepers to investigate as the sounds were consistent with a possible rocket launch.’ ‘Around noon, we detected shelling from Israel to the Kafr Shouba area in Lebanon,’ the statement added. ‘Our Head of Mission and Force Commander, Major General Aroldo Lázaro, has been in contact with authorities in Lebanon and Israel, and our liaison mechanisms have been fully engaged to prevent further escalation,’ said the UNIFIL. ‘This incident comes at a sensitive time and in an area that has already experienced tensions earlier this week. We urge everyone to exercise restraint and avoid any action that could cause further escalation,’ it concluded.

Foreign Ministers of Non-Aligned countries adopt Baku Declaration

Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement countries Thursday called for respecting the sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and political independence of all states and their rejection of external interference in their domestic affairs, stressing the need to end the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Arab Golan.

The Ministers, at the conclusion of their meeting held in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, with the participation of Foreign and Expatriates Minster, Fayssal Mikdad, adopted the Baku Declaration which called for adhering to the vision, principles and goals of the movement as established during the Bandung Conference of 1955 and Belgrade of 1961, which aims to achieve a world in which peace, justice, cooperation and prosperity prevails for all.

They reiterated the movement’s stance which demands the end of the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Arab Golan and its withdrawal from it up to the line of June 4th, 1967, in accordance with Security Council Resolutions No. 242/338, stressing the content of Resolution 497 which stipulates that all measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities to change the legal, administrative and demographic status of the Golan are null and void which has no legal effect.

The ministers also expressed their countries’ support for the Palestinian cause, relevant international legitimacy resolutions, the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, and the right of return, and they condemned the escalation of the Israeli occupation and settler militias in their deadly attacks on the Palestinians, the latest of which is the attack on the city of Jenin and its camp.

On the other hand, the ministers condemned in the strongest terms the imposition of illegal unilateral coercive measures against member states of the Movement.
