President al-Assad issues decree that amends an article on admission of students of National Science Olympiad in public universities

President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday issued Legislative Decree No. /18/ for 2023, which amends article /3/ of term /A/ of rule /1/ of Legislative Decree No. /4/ for 2016.

According to the new amendment, the admission to public universities and scholarships to obtain a doctorate will include those having gold medals in each discipline of the National Science Olympiad rather than limiting to the first winner.

Syria wins several medals on last day of 4th West Asian Bodybuilding Championship, Manama

The Syrian national team won eight various medals on the last day of 4th West Asian Bodybuilding Championship held in Manama.

The gold medals were gained by Mohammad al-Rifai in the Classic in Bodybuilding and Amin al-Hares at Bodybuilding masters.

Jaafar Zahra gained the silver, while Mohammad al-Rifai, Hossam al-Din Qamhiyeh and Mohammad Ibrahim won the bronze medals.

On Saturday, the Syrian team won two golds, two silvers and two bronzes.

SWEDEN WINS THE 2023 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP BRONZE MEDAL

Sweden won the bronze medal in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, by defeating its Australian counterpart (2-0) in the third-place match that brought them together today, Saturday, according to “Russia Today” agency. The Swedish double was scored by striker Fridolina Rulfo and midfielder Kosovar Aslani, in the two minutes (30 from a penalty kick and 62), respectively, from the time of the match, which took place at the ‘Suncorp Stadium’ in the Australian city of Brisbane, while the final match will be held tomorrow, Sunday, between Spain and England, at the Australia Stadium in Sydney.

Syrian swimmer, Hammam Mualla, withdraws from world championship due to presence of “Israeli” player

The Syrian international swimmer Hammam Hashim Mualla withdrew from the 200-meter butterfly race at the World Masters Swimming Championships in Japan.

The athlete’s withdrawal is due to the presence of an Israeli player.

Hammam Mualla was born in Damascus in 1973. He is one of the swimmers of the national team. He participated in many local ,international and continental championships.

Syria’s Body power team harvests 5 new medals at Asia university competition of UAE

Syria’s Body power team added five new medals (4 silver and one Bronze) to its harvest on the first day of Asia’s University championship being held on the UAE’s city of Sharjah.

Player Hasan Khalil obtained two silver medals while his citizen Yousef Yousef had three medals, two silver and one bronze.

Earlier, Syrian player Ahmad Shahat gained three medals (one silver and two bronze.

Bahrain beats Indonesia 95-72 in FIBA qualifying tournament of Damascus

On the fourth day in Damascus, Bahrain secured a spot in the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments after winning the Group by staying flawless.

Their success was not only founded on their own victory with a day to spare, but also because Saudi Arabia paved the way for them to get it done by beating India earlier in the day.

Bahrain beat Indonesia, 95-72, and successfully qualified for the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.

Dwayne Chism led Bahrain with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals. Muzamil Hamooda added 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 triples. Widyanta Putra Teja was the top scorer for Indonesia with 15 points and 3 rebounds.

Bahrain shot 44.8% from beyond the arc, while Indonesia shot just 27.3%. Bahrain also won the rebounding battle 46-38.

With this win, Bahrain is now 4-0 in the tournament. They will face India on Day 5 for a chance to finish with a clean sweep in the competition. Indonesia falls to 1-3 in the tournament. They will face Syria on Day 5.
