WEATHER: DECREASING TEMPERATURES IN THE EVENING, SCATTERED RAIN

The Beirut airport-based meteorology department has expected Friday’s weather to be partly cloudy with rising temperatures and active winds. FUEL PRICES RISE FURTHER

Fuel prices have increased in Lebanon on Thursday, with the price of a canister of gasoline rising by LBP 37,000, that of diesel by LBP 34,000, and that of LP gas by LBP 24,000. Consequently, prices are as follows: 95-octane gasoline: LBP 1,889,000 98-octane gasoline: LBP 1,934,000 Diesel: LBP 1,792,000 LP gas: LBP 1,272,000

JAPAN ALLOCATES A $2M EMERGENCY GRANT TO SUPPORT LEBANON’S FOOD SECURITY

Japan decided to allocate a USD 2 million emergency grant to Lebanon through the World Food Program (WFP), in response to the deterioration of the food security situation across the country, which has been exacerbated by the Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the Japanese Embassy indicated in a statement on Thursday. This aid will support WFP’s efforts to help 300,000 vulnerable people in Lebanon through monthly in-kind food parcels to help them meet their nutrition needs during a period of six months and mitigate the impact that the socio-economic crisis had on their livelihoods. Through this initiative, Japan renews its commitment to continue to stand by Lebanon and its people amid the unprecedented challenges that the country is facing.

SALAMEH’S HEARING SESSION WINDS UP, INVESTIGATION RESUMES FRIDAY AT 10:00 AM

Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh’s hearing session, which kicked off earlier on Thursday afternoon at the Palace of Justice in implementation of the European judicial writ, has ended. First investigating judge in Beirut, Charbel Abu Samra, has set another session on Friday at 10:00 am to complete the investigation with Salameh, who did not bring a lawyer with him.
