The Sudanese army repels an Ethiopian attack and incurs them heavy losses

Baghdad / NINA / – The Sudanese army confirmed, on Saturday evening, that it repelled an attack by the Ethiopian forces and allied armed groups in the border area of Al-Fashqa, inflicting them heavy losses in lives and equipment.

It said in a statement: Our forces working to secure the harvest in Al-Fashqa Al-Soghra in the Barakat Noreen area were attacked and attacked by groups of the Ethiopian army and militias aimed at intimidating farmers, sabotaging the harvest season and incursions into our lands.

It added: Our forces bravely repelled the attack and inflicted them heavy losses in lives and equipment. The (Sudanese) armed forces counted a number of martyrs and will continue to protect the homeland and defend its lands.

The Sudan Tribune newspaper quoted high-ranking military sources as saying that the Sudanese army responded to the incursion of Ethiopian forces and the Amhara militias into Sudanese lands east of Barakat Noreen, at the settlement of Malakawa, at a depth of 17 kilometers.

It indicated that the confrontations that erupted with heavy weapons continued until midday, Saturday.
