Sudan’s FFC rejects combining various initiatives over transitional cabinet

The Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) Sunday rejected combining the political initiatives made by the various coalitions in a single text to end the political stalemate.

After the dissolution of the FFC government by the military coup of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan on October 25, 2021, several initiatives have been put forward to end the political crisis and constitutional vacuum.

“The Forces for Freedom and Change reject the proposal to combine the different initiatives, because it is unproductive and will not lead to a radical solution to the crisis,” Alwathiq Albreir FFC leading member and NUP Secretary-General told the Sudan Tribune on Sunday.

He pointed out that the coalition will not take part in any political settlement based on such a process.

He further dismissed rumours about a political compromise, underscoring that the FFC coalition adheres to full civilian authority and democratic transformation.

Albereir was speaking after a meeting between the military component tripartite committee and the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) on Sunday.

SRF Spokesman Osama Saeed stated after the meeting that they discussed how to combine the various initiatives over the constitutional declaration, tasks to be achieved during the transition and the formation of a government to implement it.

“The Sudanese Revolutionary Front presented an updated vision of its initiatives launched earlier from Ad Damazin, the capital of the Blue Nile region, on these three issues, based on the new position of the military component, to exit the political process,” Saeed said.

The initial SRF position paper called for the participation of the military component in the transitional government.

It is worth mentioning that both the National Consensus Forces and the People of Sudan Initiative call for the participation of the military component in the transitional government.
