Myriad of Large-Scale Events Awaited by Morocco as Part of Morocco-Qatar 2024 Cultural Year
Rabat – Major events highlighting the richness of Moroccan art and culture will be held in Qatar and Morocco over the coming weeks, as part of the Morocco-Qatar 2024 Cultural Year.
The program for this major cultural event includes the showcasing of arts and crafts traditions, as well as major exhibitions, culinary experiences, musical events and sporting fixtures.
Initiated by ‘Years of Culture’, the Morocco-Qatar Cultural Year 2024 testifies to the depth and solidity of the historic ties between the two brotherly peoples and the two Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, says a press release from the organizers, stressing that the Year’s agenda delivers on all its promises.
‘Highlighting the creative genius and civilizational dynamics of the Kingdom of Morocco’ is essentially the objective of Morocco in holding this Cultural Year, it adds.
Following on from the exhibition of the Berber Jewellery Collection at the Royal Palace,
which showcased the magnificence of this jewelry and was a great success with both Moroccan and Qatari aesthetes, a number of other events are scheduled, the most important of which are ‘major and unprecedented events on the Moroccan and Qatari cultural scene.’
This weekend, for example, Rabat will host the ‘Longines Global Champion Tour’, a prestigious international show jumping event that brings together the world’s best riders and horses in a unique venue specially designed for the occasion.
The following week, on October 23 and 24, the city of Marrakech will host the ‘Fashion Trust Arabia’, a flagship event showcasing the creativity of Arab fashion.
Dar Al Maghrib, in Doha, will then be the focal point of this cultural year. Inspired by the architecture of the Aït Benhaddou ksar, this pavilion is designed as a 1,200 m2 immersive space built close to the Qatari capital’s Museum of Islamic Art.
The interior of the pavilion is laid out in four distinct spaces: ‘Morocco as a Land of Confluences’, ‘Land of
Light’, ‘Land of Gathering’ and ‘Land of Passion’, the press release states, adding that Dar Al Maghrib will be inaugurated on November 1.
At the same time, the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar will host the ‘Splendours of the Atlas’ exhibition, featuring over 200 previously unseen works of art from various Moroccan institutions.
On a completely different note, the ‘Qatar Africa Business Forum’ will be held in Marrakech on November 16 and 17, with the aim of promoting sustainable partnerships between Qatar and Morocco, with a focus on development, entrepreneurship and innovation.
On November 30, Doha will host the ‘Caftan Fashion Show’, an exceptional show featuring 10 Moroccan caftan designers. Inspired by Ghazali poetry and Arabic calligraphy, the show is an ode to Moroccan craftsmanship.
Last but not least, on December 18, 2024, the Tbourida Show will be held in Doha, where Moroccan riders dressed in traditional outfits will offer Qatari and international audiences an exceptional fresco of Moroccan cultu
re, combining cadence, rhythm and coordination in a dazzling celebration of Moroccan equestrian art.
Other more exclusive artistic and cultural events will continue to punctuate this year’s agenda in both countries, according to the organizers.
The Years of Culture Qatar-Morocco 2024 initiative is a unique event and an exceptional opportunity to introduce Qatar and the world to Morocco’s rich cultural heritage in all its diversity and particularities, which make the Kingdom a unique secular country.
