Tourism Ministry wins best government website in Arab world


Amman: The Board of Directors of the Arab Union for Tourism Media has approved the announcement of the winners of the Arab Tourism Media Awards for 2024, which were hosted by the Berlin International Tourism Fair.

According to a statement issued by the union on Saturday, the website of the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities won the award for the best government tourism website in the Arab world for 2024.

The ministry’s Facebook page also won the award for the best government tourism social media site in the Arab world for 2023.

The ministry’s Media and Public Relations Unit won the award for the best media unit among government institutions for 2022.

The competition was widely participated by creators and influencers from different Arab countries, where they competed in various categories. The submissions were evaluated by a specialized jury that included a group of media and tourism experts from the Arab world.

Malnutrition, dehydration claim lives of 2 girls in northern Gaza


Gaza: A two-month-old girl died of malnutrition and dehydration at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, and a 20-year-old girl died of the same causes at Al-Shifa Medical Complex, according to Dr. Ashraf Al-Qudra, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

In a press release issued on Saturday evening, Al-Qudra noted that the number of victims in the Gaza Strip due to malnourishment and dehydration had increased to 25. The statement clarified that the number of martyrs from these causes only included those who were hospitalized.

He continued by saying that the rise in dehydration and malnutrition-related mortality is extremely concerning and indicates that the famine in northern Gaza has reached record highs.

Syria, Iraq discuss cooperation to confront drought problem and climate change


Damascus, Prime Minister Hussein Arnous discussed Saturday with Iraqi Minister of Water Resources Aoun Diab Abdullah means of enhancing cooperation between Syria and Iraq to confront the problem of drought and climate change.

Arnous affirmed the Syrian government’s readiness to implement joint projects with the Iraqi side on water and using modern technologies to address the reality of scarcity of water resources due to drought and lack of rainfall during the past years.

For his part, the Iraqi minister expressed his country’s readiness to exchange expertise with the Syrian side and boost the bilateral cooperation in this regard to serve the common interest of the two brotherly countries.

The two sides stressed the need for all parties to respect international agreements related to the construction of dams and the sharing of international river waters between upstream and downstream countries.

President al-Assad chairs a government meeting to discuss policies on supporting small enterprises


Damascus, President Bashar al-Assad chaired Saturday a small government meeting to discuss policies on supporting and developing small enterprises that form the basis of the economies of most countries in the world because they directly affect the standard of living and the productive capacity of the social segments working on these projects.

For years, the Syrian State has been working to encourage small enterprises as carriers of the Syrian economy, however, the absence of sound administrative structures prevented achieving the desired objective in terms of having a comprehensive environment at the level of the plans, the administrations and the required structure.

President al-Assad stressed on correcting the structures and developing the organizational structure of the existing institutions and bodies concerned with investment and small and micro- enterprises, to be able to implement the necessary policies to create, promote and develop small enterprises so that they can grow and then transform into med
ium and large enterprises, with the ultimate goal of reactivating the Syrian economy.
