4 killed in Sudan’s anti-coup protests despite Burhan’s pledges

Four protesters were killed in Omdurman, until now, as Sudanese massively took to the streets to protest against the coup of October 25, 2021.

The Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors (CCSD) released a statement confirming that two protesters were shot deal by live ammunition in the chest.

Also, many have been wounded by tear gas and stun grenades the security forces fired directly on the protesters.

The Sudanese authorities have shut off internet access across the country to prevent coordination between the neighbourhood groups and international communications.

However, some activists and pro-democracy groups such as the (CCSD) continue to report about the protests.

In a separate statement, the Unified Office of Sudanese Doctors said that the security forces sought to storm several hospitals in Khartoum to arrest protesters.

During a phone call with the U.S. Assistance Secretary for Africa Molly Phee on Wednesday, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan head of the Sovereign Council had pledged to not use violence against protesters.

Videos and pictures seen by the Sudan Tribune show large demonstrations in Madani, Port Sudan, and Nyala. Also, activists reported huge protests in Kadoguli and Dongola.
