Syrian-Russian talks in Moscow to boost agricultural cooperation

Prospects of developing cooperation in the agricultural sector, both plant and animal, and ways to enhance food security in the two countries were the focus of the Syrian-Russian discussions, held on Friday in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

The two sides voiced their readiness to provide all capabilities to strengthen bilateral relations in these important areas, and they exchanged lists of materials required for each party to advance the goals and objectives of the desired cooperation.

In an interview with SANA correspondent in Moscow, the head of the Chamber of Agriculture of Damascus, Muhammad Janan, stressed the need to develop and strengthen this cooperation in order to raise the level of desired interest, recalling the exchange that existed between both countries in the field of grains.

The discussions dealt also with the issues of re-operating livestock laboratories and a complete presentation of the list of materials for supporting the agricultural sector, both its
plant and animal sectors, Janan added.

In a similar interview, the Head of the Agricultural Department of the Russian Chamber of Commerce, Chekmaryov Pyotr Aleksandrovich, considered that the meeting was fruitful, and the Russian side expressed its readiness to work in all the fields presented and everything related to the agricultural sector along with raising the level of food security in the two countries.

Amman: The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), under Royal directives, dispatched a medical evacuation plane belonging to the Royal Air Force to aid a Jordanian citizen involved in a road accident in Saudi Arabia.

A Jordanian national employed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was evacuated by a military aircraft carrying a specialized medical team, according to the Royal Air Force Medical Services Commander. The individual’s overall health was deemed critical.

Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Al-Abiad, on Friday welcomed in his office at the ministry, the Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Nicoletta Bombardiere, who paid him a farewell visit upon winding her diplomatic mission in Lebanon.

Joint cooperation projects were discussed during the visit.

Geng called on the international community to make collective efforts to increase humanitarian aid to Syria and provide sufficient, non-allocated financial support for the early recovery projects throughout the country.

The Banque Populaire Group (BCP), second largest bank in Morocco, on Friday opened its first branch in El Guerguarate, contributing to support the development momentum in the southern provinces of the Kingdom.

This new branch was inaugurated in a ceremony attended by Wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Ali Khalil, Governor of the province of Aousserd, Abderrahaman El Jaouhari, and President of BCP Group, Mohamed Karim Mounir, as well as elected officials and civil and military personalities.

The inauguration of this new branch constitutes a strong signal of the BCP Group’s commitment to the economic and social development of the southern provinces of the Kingdom.

The Group is thus strengthening its contribution to the development of the economic activity in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, which enjoys rich economic potential and benefits from significant investments in key sectors, such as fisheries, tourism and renewable energies.

Strong Wind Gusts Expected Friday to Sunday in Several Moroccan Provinces

Strong wind gusts with dust storms (75-90 km/h) are expected from Friday to Sunday in several provinces of the Kingdom, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) announced on Friday.

This phenomenon, scheduled for Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will concern the provinces of Figuig, Taourirt, Midelt, Azilal, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, Tinghir, Guercif, Sefrou, Ifrane, Khénifra, Beni-Mellal, Tangier-Asilah, Fahs-Anjra and Tetouan, the DGM pointed out in an orange weather alert.

These strong wind gusts with dust storms are also expected, from Saturday at 8 a.m. to Sunday at 6 p.m., in the provinces of Fahs-Anjra, Tangier-Asilah, Figuig, Boulemane, Midelt, Ifrane, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Tinghir, Errachidia, Zagora, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, the same source added.
