Russian MP, six children injured in Ukrainian missile attack on Luhansk

‘Russian State Duma member Viktor Vodolatsky and six children were injured in a Ukrainian missile attack on the Luhansk People’s Republic, Sputnik quoted the representative office of the republic at the Joint Center for Monitoring and Coordination of Cases Related to Ukrainian War Crimes as saying in a statement.

The hostile acts coincide now with the Luhansk People’s Republic’s celebration of Republic Day.

The Russian forces continue their special military operation to liberate the four regions that joined Russian Federation last year, which are the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson Provinces.

Czech site: Syria’s return to Arab League to enhance regional cooperation

The Czech “A Portal 24” website said that the recent developments taking place in the Middle East region, especially Arab decision to resume Syria’s participation in the Arab League meetings, and the resumption of Iranian-Saudi relations, indicate that the region has begun to get rid of the American scenario prepared for this region.

The website pointed out in an article that the international community generally welcomed Syria’s return to the Arab League, because it would contribute to strengthening regional cooperation and improving economies.

The site said that this would help the Arab countries to create a common political force, play a more important role in the international arena, and support further calming of the situation in the region.

The site indicated that the United States intervened arbitrarily, for a long time, in the issues of the Middle East, and provoked confrontations led to conflicts and endless wars.

12 aftershocks monitored during the last 24 hours, earthquake center says

National Earthquake Central announced that 12 aftershocks were observed during the last 24 hours.

The center said in a statement that its stations recorded six aftershocks in Turkey of 5.2 and 4.0 magnitude and four in Iskenderun with a magnitude ranging between 6.1 and 3.2 degrees on the Richter scale.

It added another aftershock has been recorded west of Lattakia province by18 kilometers with a magnitude of 1.7 degrees and one to the southwest of Lattakia by 17 kilometers with a magnitude of 2.7.

Mrs. Asma al-Assad meets Omani National Records and Archives Authority delegation

The First Lady Mrs. Asma al-Assad met Omani National Records and Archives Authority delegation who paid a few days’ visit to Syria recently for the establishment of a Syrian-Omani cooperation.

The meeting focused on the documents essential role in writing and preserving history, as their role is not only limited for that, despite of its great importance, but they are an essential means for managing and regulating the present and they are part of making and possessing future.

Mrs. al-Assad pointed out to the great importance of documentation on various levels for both the state and the society, as the document represents our vision of events and facts and it grants us the potential of managing knowledge. It creates the joint collective thinking towards these events. Without documents, the events become a mere stories narrated by generations, without making benefit from their lessons.

The document also constitutes the intellectual reference which protects the identity and preserve the belonging, particularly that the war Syria has witnessed over 12 years, has affected the human being, who lives and practices the intangible heritage, in addition to the damage affected the tangible heritage, therefore documenting this heritage protects it against vanishing and continues with generations, one after another.

During the meeting, Head of the Omani delegation, Hamad bin Mohammed al-Duwayani, briefed the Syrian side on the Omani experience in organizing, managing and investing documents to regulate the work of the institutions and the state’s management with higher flexibility and referential performance.

al-Duwayani expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Syria in the documentation project and preserving heritage.

The meeting was attended by Presidential Political and Media Adviser Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban.

A Syrian young girl wins Primakov Center competition

Dr. Rula Ahmed, who has recently obtained the Ph.D. in the Department of Electronic Media at the Faculty of Mass Communication at the Damascus University, won the competition of scientific analytical articles organized by the Primakov Center for International Cooperation in Russia.

The competition included presenting scientific and analytical articles on Russian-Syrian relations for the students of the bachelor, master and doctoral studies, according to Dr. Ahmad, it also aims to promote dialogue among young experts from Russia and Syria.

Talking to SANA, Dr. Ahmad added that her article concentrated on the humanitarian side in the Syrian-Russian cooperation, and she talked about the humanitarian assistances presented by Moscow to Syria over the years of the terrorist war. And how Russia was able to compensate the geographical distance by convoys of amity and humanity and that its support to the right of the Syrians is the duty of all countries.

Dr. Ahmad is scheduled to be one of the representatives of Syria in the “14th International Economic Forum (Russia-Islamic World)”, which is to be held in Kazan, capital city of Russian Tatarstan, from 18th to 19th of May, as 64 states and 59 Russian organizations are scheduled to participate in it.

A cooperation protocol between the labor unions in Syria and Italy

The Federation of Trade Unions in Syria signed a cooperation protocol with the Federation of Workers in Italy in Damascus on Saturday .

The protocol was signed by President of the General Federation of Trade Unions in Syria, Jamal Al-Qadri, and the President of the Federation of Italian Workers, Pier Paolo Leonardi.

Al-Qadri said that this protocol aims to support cooperation relations between the two sides in a way that serves the interests of workers at international trade union forums, and deepens work in this field, in addition to enhancing cooperation on the cultural and tourism levels.

Leonardi referred to the steadfastness of Syria and its leadership, and the sacrifices of its people, including the working class, in the face of terrorism, calling for lifting the unjust blockade imposed on the Syrian people.

The two sides condemned the practices of the Israeli occupation authorities in the occupied Palestinian territories, and called for an end to the attacks on the Palestinian people and to enable them to determine their fate and their right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

After signing the protocol, the Italian trade union delegation visited the Museum of the Syrian Trade Union Movement at the General Union building, and learned about the history of trade union struggle in Syria.
