CGTN:24 hopefuls in CGTN Media Challengers campaign face final competition

BEIJING, Sept. 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The final 24 candidates in “The Media Challengers” campaign – a global campaign organized by CGTN – were officially announced on Friday. ‫دراسة جديدة لـمستشفى “كليفلاند كلينك أبوظبي”: أمراض القلب تؤثر سلباً على أكثر من نصف سكان الإمارات

بيّنت الدراسة حجم التأثير الذي تخلّفه أمراض القلب على سكان المجتمع الإماراتي. أظهرت دراسة جديدة أجراها مستشفى “كليفلاند كلينك أبوظبي”، جزء من مبادلة للرعاية الصحية، أن أكثر من نصف سكان دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة تأثروا سلباً خلال حياتهم نتيجة إصابتهم أو أحد أقاربهم أو أصدقائهم بأحد أنواع أو أشكال مرض القلب.

وخلُصت نتائج الدراسة التي أجراها المستشفى بالتزامن مع “اليوم العالمي للقلب” الذي يوافق يوم 29 سبتمبر، وشملت أكثر من ألف شخص في الدولة، أن 55% من المستجيبين أفادوا بتأثرهم بشكل مباشر بسبب أمراض القلب، سواء بإصابتهم شخصياً بأحد أنواع مرض القلب (12٪)، أو نتيجة إصابة أحد أفراد الأسرة أو صديق مقرّب (53٪)، أو بسبب الحالتين معاً. وتعد أمراض القلب والأوعية الدموية السبب الرئيسي للوفاة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، مع ظهور الأعراض للمرض غالبًا قبل عقد من ظهورها عند المرضى في الدول المتقدمة الأخرى.

وأوضح الدكتور روني شنتوف، طبيب استشاري في معهد القلب والأوعية الدموية في مستشفى “كليفلاند كلينك أبوظبي”، هذا الأمر قائلاً: “إن نتائج الدراسة الاخيرة، تبين التأثير السلبي لأمراض القلب على المجتمع الإماراتي، حيث أن التأثير السلبي لتشخيص الإصابة بأحد أمراض القلب يتجاوز المريض إلى أفراد أسرته وأصدقائه، مما يتسبب بقدر كبير من القلق والمعاناة للجميع. مشيراً إلى أن معظم حالات الإصابة بأمراض القلب يمكن الوقاية منها، وكل ما نحتاج إليه هو تعزيز الوعي بين جميع فئات وشرائح المجتمع حول عوامل الخطر المرتبطة بأمراض القلب وطرق الوقاية منها، وهذا بالتحديد ما نسعى إلى إنجازه من خلال حملتنا الأخيرة “معاً من أجل صحة قلبك”.

في المقابل، تمثلت النتائج الإيجابية التي دلت عنها الدراسة في تحلّي 78% من المستجيبين بمستوى عالٍ من الوعي حول عوامل الخطر المرتبطة بالإصابة بأمراض القلب، كما أفاد نحو 77% بأنهم على دراية بأن أمراض القلب يمكن الوقاية منها، إضافة إلى أن أكثر من نصف الذين شملهتم الدراسة يدركون بأن الأطباء دائما ما يوصون بممارسة التمارين الرياضية لأكثر من 150 دقيقة أسبوعياً للمساعدة في الوقاية من أمراض القلب.

وعلى الرغم من معدلات الوعي المرتفعة هذه، إلا أن 53% ممن شملتهم الدراسة قالوا بأنهم لم يجروا فحصاً لمعرفة صحة القلب لديهم منذ أكثر من عامين، في حين قال 30% أنهم لم يسبق لهم إجراء أي فحص للقلب على الإطلاق. ومن بين الأشخاص الذين تزيد أعمارهم عن 45 عاماً، وهي الفئة الأكثر عرضةً للخطر، قال نحو 49% أنهم لم يجروا أي فحص لمعرفة صحة القلب لديهم منذ أكثر من عامين، في حين لم يسبق لـ 22% من الأشخاص ضمن هذه الفئة إجراء أي فحص لمعرفة صحة القلب لديهم. كما بيّنت الدراسة أن فئة النساء تعتبر الأقل زيارة للطبيب من أجل فحص صحة القلب، حيث ذكرت 35% من السيدات اللواتي شاركن في الدراسة بأنه لم يسبق لهن زيارة طبيب قلب على الإطلاق، في حين أفادت 26% من السيدات بمرور أكثر من عامين على آخر فحص أجرينه.

وأضاف الدكتور شنتوف: “من المثير للقلق حقاً معرفة أنه بالرغم من الآثار السلبية الواضحة التي يسببها مرض القلب على مجتمعنا، ومستوى الوعي الكبير بين السكان حول عوامل الخطر المرتبطة بهذا المرض، إلا أنه لا يزال عدد كبير من الناس يترددون حيال زيارة الطبيب واتخاذ خطوات جدية للوقاية من أمراض القلب. ونحثّ على ضرورة زيارة الطبيب بشكل دوري للتأكد من صحة القلب خاصة بالنسبة لأولئك الذين يندرجون ضمن الفئات الأكثر عرضةً لخطر الإصابة بأمراض القلب. إن الفحص الدوري والمناسب لصحة القلب إلى جانب إجراء بعض التغييرات البسيطة والصحية في نمط حياتنا يمكن أن يقينا وأفراد عائلتنا وأصدقائنا من التأثيرات السلبية والمعاناة التي تصاحب تشخيص الإصابة بأمراض القلب”.

وفي حين أن غالبية المشاركين في الدراسة لم يجروا فحصاً لمعرفة مدى صحة القلب لديهم خلال السنوات الأخيرة، أفاد 15% فقط بأنهم لم يسبق لهم التعرض لأي من عوامل خطر المرتبطة بأمراض القلب. وشملت عوامل الخطر الأكثر شيوعاً التي ذكرها المستجيبون ؛ ارتفاع ضغط الدم (46٪)، الإجهاد والتوتر (45٪)، الكوليسترول (44٪)، وقلة ممارسة التمارين الرياضية (44٪). إضافة إلى ذلك، كان مرض السمنة وداء السكري، وهما حالتان مرضيتان ترتبطان ارتباطاً وثيقاً بأمراض القلب الحادة، من عوامل الخطر المؤثرة الأخرى وفقاً لـ 35% و30% على التوالي، من الأشخاص المشاركين في الدراسة.

Sudan, Kuwait discuss debt relief

A Kuwaiti delegation has arrived in the capital, Khartoum, to discuss Sudan’s debt relief under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative.

Kuwait, which is Sudan’s largest creditor from the non-Paris Club countries at $9.8 billion, had pledged to hold direct talks with Khartoum over the matter.

On Sunday, Sudanese Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim and Abdullah Khalil Al-Musaibeh, the regional director of the Arab countries at the Kuwait Fund for Development, held a meeting to discuss Kuwait’s contribution to alleviating Sudan’ debt.

In his remarks after the meeting, Al-Musaibeh said they would review the debt before agreeing to write off part of the debt.

“What we will do during this visit is to review Sudan’s debts, agreeing on adjusting the debt. And then follow up on the existing loans and future projects that we will agree on during this visit,” he said.

Sudan’s debt totalled at least $50 billion as of the end of 2019, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Sudan’s oil sector lost $3.5m due to repeated protests

Trade union officials in oil production and transportation companies estimated the losses resulting from the repeated protests in the oil sector at 3.5 million dollars.

On Friday, a tribal group rejecting the Juba Peace Agreement in eastern Sudan closed the roads leading to the maritime ports on the Red Sea. On Sunday the Hadandaw group closed the Bashayer crude oil export terminal, located 25 km south of Port Sudan.

The military component in the transitional government responsible for security in the country refrains from protecting the vital economic facilities including terminals demanding immunity from prosecution for its forces in the event of excessive use of force to deter riots and looting that take place during these protests.

The steering committees of the trade unions in the oil production and transport companies on Sunday held a press conference to draw attention to the risks of the continued deterioration of the security situation and its effects on the oil companies in the production areas.

They said that the security situation may lead to shut down Sudan’s largest refinery in the Al-Jili area on the east bank of the Nile River at about 70 km north of the capital Khartoum.

They further warned against the consequences of the closure of the Bashayer terminal on the Red Sea by the Al-Handawa group led by Muoamed Turk.

The trade unionists revealed that during the period from January to August 2021 there were 293 sabotage operations and 67 theft cases.

’’The losses resulting from the repeated protests during this period were estimated at 62,000 barrels of crude oil, valued at $3.5 million due to the recent protests”.

The oil production areas in Sudan witness regular protests organized by local groups due to poor development and services.

The trade unions representatives said there were 27 suspensions of work due to the protests, in addition to the kidnapping of some workers, stressing that the lack of security requires serious measures to protect the oil workers.

They further called on the Sudanese authorities to resolve urgently the growing security problems.

Khaled Bashir al-Tayeb, a trade union official, said that oil workers in the Bashayer terminal are facing security problems as a result of the ongoing protest in the area. He added that the situation is alarming as they ignore their whereabouts.

“If the situation continues, the pipeline will stop and catastrophic damage will occur,” al-Tayeb stressed on Sunday.

He further warned that if the pipeline has been shut down, the resumption of oil pumping requires weeks, in addition to equipment losses.

“The oil sector is sensitive and the government should take responsibility and deals properly with the situation,” he said.

Body launched to deepen South Sudan-China relations

South Sudan China Alumni Association (SSCAA) was on has been launched to improve relations between China and the East African nation.

Speaking at the association launch on Sunday, the Director of the Department of China Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Simon Juach Deng said is a culmination of strong bilateral relations.

He said the Chinese government has been supportive to South Sudan in establishing critical institutions and infrastructure critical for development in the young nation.

Deng appealed to the over 200 members of SSCAA to apply the knowledge and skills acquired from their studies in various Chinese universities to benefit South Sudan.

Itoo Emmanuela, a beneficiary of the Chinese government scholarship in 2013, said the skills acquired from China helped her train colleagues who work in the oil fields.

“We do train our staff who are working in the oil fields. We do provide them with environmental awareness and management,” she told Xinhua.

Itoo is optimistic SSCAA will bring together various South Sudanese who studied in China to share ideas and knowledge in order to support their country’s development.
