SUDANESE PRESIDENT DISSOLVES GOVERNMENT
KHARTOUM, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Sunday decided to dissolve his government and cut the number of federal ministries, the official SUNA news agency reported.
“The move is meant to reduce public expenditure and provide efficiency for government performance … to meet requirements of national tasks,” SUNA quoted President al-Bashir as saying.
The number of federal ministries is expected to be slashed from 31 to 21.
The move is also designed to form an effective government to respond to the aspirations of the Sudanese people, President al-Bashir added.
The decision was expected to come into effect after approval by the Leadership Office of the ruling National Congress Party during a meeting on Sunday evening.
Sudan has been suffering from an economic crisis caused by the scarcity in liquidity and the decline in the exchange rate of its national currency.
