BAGHDAD (NINA) – Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir will start a two-day visit to the Qatari capital Doha on Tuesday.
A statement of the Sudanese presidency said, “Bashir will meet Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad to discuss bilateral relations and efforts to promote peace in Darfur and regional issues of common concern,”
Bashir’s visit is the first since the outbreak of popular protests demanding him to step down from power more than a month ago.
Qatar and Sudan have good relations, and they are longtime allies, and the number of Sudanese nationals residing in the Gulf emirate is estimated at 60,000.
