KHARTOUM, The Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) has refuted reports that it has set a ceiling for the amount of withdrawals which may be made at banks in the country.
CBOS spokesperson Sami Abdul-Hafeez said in a statement here Wednesday that that there has been no change in the central bank’s policies and procedures for withdrawals from banks or in determining the amount of withdrawals.
Abdul-Hafeez said that what was published in some daily newspapers were merely rumors and baseless allegations, stressing that the commercial banks had been conducting their normal activities and that the withdrawals and deposit operations are being carried out normally without any CBOS intervention.
He emphasized the Central Bank’s keenness to conduct banking dealings in accordance with the regulations and procedures that govern the CBOS relationship with the public and with the banking system through the official channels, while calling on the public not to pay attention to rumours.
