MUSCAT: As part of Bank Sohar’s Al Mumayaz Savings Scheme 2014 Campaign and the ongoing monthly savings tips that are being provided, we bring to you the tip for the month of September.

The tip for the month highlights the importance of taking regular health check-ups which could minimise the risk of unforeseen and sometimes expensive medical emergencies. Such risk management and precautions could be your first step to a healthier and wealthier retirement.

Speaking on this savings tips initiative, Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM, human resource and corporate support said, “We have always been committed towards promoting a healthy lifestyle amongst the community. Regular medical check-ups and tests can allow individuals to find emerging problems and choose a prevention route rather than trying to fix the problem after it has occurred, which can in turn, lead to better chances of treatment and cure. This simple practice will ensure a healthier and wealthier future for you, your family and the community as a whole.”

Taking regular health check-ups are an important part of life that offer a number of advantages; the most obvious of which is the ability to assess the risk of future medical problems. It is common knowledge that illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis, and heart diseases are better treated when diagnosed at an early stage. Screening tests can often help detect these disease before it advances further and causes irreversible damage.

“Aside from the health benefits, check-ups also help build a closer relationship with the doctor, and people who do so, are more likely to follow given advice and take steps to improve or maintain their health. Furthermore, while chronic conditions require costly treatment, preventive medicine does not, allowing us to save money. This not only allows for more money to be added towards our retirement fund but also ensures we are in good health when the time comes to do so,” added Munira Abdulnabi Macki.
