SEPTEMBER 16, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Justice Minister, Ashraf Rifi, said that priority should be accorded to speeding up trials, since as he said ‘rights restored after long years are ones of diminished value.”
Minister Rifi on Tuesday afternoon visited the Supreme Judicial Council, and met with the Council members, headed by Judge Jean Fahd, to announce the onset of the new judicial year.
Following the meeting, Both Rifi and Fahd underlined the importance of respect for laws and the role of the judiciary and judges in carrying out their duties.
“Slow trials do not represent justice,” Rifi said, disclosing that trials have been concluded in 22 files out of 39, with 15 others pending.
