QMA Launch Exhibition in Japan to Celebrate Relations between the two countries
Tokyo, September 28 (QNA) – Under the title “Same-Same but Different: The Role of the Artist in the Arab World and Japan,” the Qatar Museum Authority launched Friday its exhibition in the Mori Art Museum (MAM) in Tokyo.
The exhibition is part of the series of events organized by the Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) to celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Japan.
CEO of QMA Mansoor Al Khater said that the event will introduce both parties, the Arab and Japanese, to each other’s art and the role it played in its respective society. Director of MAM Fumio Nanjo said that the exhibition reflected the distinguished bilateral relations between Qatar and Japan. He expressed his thanks as well to QMA for working on organizing the event.
Qatar is organizing a cultural event in Japan entitled Ferjaan in Tokyo. More than a 1000 people have visited the event since its launch. The event includes traditional Qatari music and dances in addition to traditional Qatari products ranging from clothes to Hena. There was also presentations on Qatar’s biggest institutions such as Qatar Airways and Al Jazeera English. Qatar Foundation (QF) also gave a presentation on its role in education, scientific research and human development in the State of Qatar. Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority Issa Bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, who is also the Vice Chairman of Doha Tribeca Film Festival, told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the goal of the event was to introduce the Qatari heritage to the Japanese public. He added that the authority was looking to promote all of Qatar’s touristic spots whether the sports, business, cultural or recreational ones.
The event is held in Ropppongi Hills in a 1500m area. It looks similar in design to Katara in Doha. (QNA)
