London, August 25 (QNA) – The Qatari flag will be hoisted tomorrow, Sunday, at the Olympic Village of the Paralympic Games to be hosted by the British capital London during the period from 29 August to 2 September. The flag-hoisting ceremony will be attended by a number of the Paralympic Games’ Organizing Committee members and delegates from the Qatari Embassy in London, along with Abdulqader Al-Mutawaa, head of the Qatari delegation participating in the Paralympic Games
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Abdulrahman Abdulqader has intensified his training sessions before participation in the London 2012 Paralympic Games that will take place between 29 August and 9 September, 2012.
Abdulqader will compete in the Shot Putting and Javelin Throw competitions.
The Qatari delegation to the Games arrived in London on Friday. The delegation is chaired by Abdulqader Al-Mutawaa, Assistant Secretary General of the Qatar Paralympic Committee and includes Abdulrahman Abdulqader (athlete), Ahsan Abu Thalja (Coach), Hussan Uribzani (Physiotherapist) and Mohammad Suheil (Technical Expert).
The Games will be the biggest Paralympic Games ever featuring more than 4,200 athletes from 166 countries who will compete in 20 sports including; Archery, Athletics, Boccia, Cycling Road, Cycling Track, Equestrian, Football 5-a-side, Football 7-a-side, Goalball, Judo, Powerlifting, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Sitting Volleyball, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Rugby, and Wheelchair Tennis.
The London 2012 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games’ (LOCOG) vision is that rather than making them different from previous Paralympics, they want to take the best aspects of previous Games and bring them together. (QNA)
