Gaza, October 02 (QNA) – The Qatar Gaza Reconstruction Committee has launched tenders for the implementation of four projects out of the $ 254 million Qatar’s grant. A number of eligible consulting firms have received the tender documents, the committee said. HE Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi, who chairs the committee, said that the four projects offered by the committee include design of HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani residential city project which is named after HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani residential city project will cost $ 30 million, Al Emadi said, adding that the city will include 1,000 housing units along with utilities such as schools, shops and green spaces, a dispensary and recreation facilities, pointing out that the housing units will be in the form of condominium buildings, each building having 5 floors.
Al Emadi said the other three projects include tenders to construct three of the most important streets in the Gaza Strip at a cost of $128 million.
He added that more tenders will be offered in the coming days, revealing that these tenders will be for a variety of projects in agriculture sector at a cost of $ 12.5 million, and in housing sector at a cost of $ 32 million to build dozens of housing units for poor families and families who vacated their homes as they were built on plots of land belonging to government and municipalities.
