JULY 10, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Head of the Public Works and Energy House committee, MP Mohammad Qabbani, met on Thursday at his office in the Parliament with Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon, Inan Ozyildiz, with whom he discussed dragging water from Turkey to Lebanon due to the drought in the country.
Speaking to reporters following the meeting, the lawmaker said that the Turkish envoy immediately responded to that request, indicating that Lebanon is in need of 100 thousand cubic liter of water that can cover drought in Beirut and its suburbs.
“There are procedures that should be taken about wells to reduce drought and import water,” he said.
He indicated that the Lebanese government must address its Turkish counterpart with a letter hereby underlining Lebanon’s water need, before the month of September, when drought is to increase.
