President keen to enhance education’s role in nation’s march: Nahyan bin Mubarak

WAM ABU DHABI, 3rd February, 2014 (WAM) — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, has highlighted the keenness of the U.A.E., under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to support progress and development in the Arab region and strengthen the role of education in the nation’s march, making universities key and active partners in national development processes.
During the first annual charitable ceremony hosted by the Jordan University Graduate Association in the U.A.E., under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan, he commended the depth of fraternal relations between the U.A.E. and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan expressed his appreciation to the University of Jordan and the role played by the university since its establishment in 1962.
The ceremony, which was held at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, was attended by Mirza Al Sayegh, Member of the Board of Trustees of Al Maktoum Charity Foundation, and Honourary President of the Association, Dr. Khaled Toukan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Jordan, and Naif Fantoul Al-Zaidan, Ambassador of Jordan to the U.A.E., in addition to a number of senior officials.
The ceremony was also attended by a number of ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries accredited to the country .
