PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY FOR MINISTERIAL MEETING ON SECURITY BETWEEN SUDAN, NEIGHBOURS
KHARTOUM, Sessions to prepare for the Third Ministerial Meeting on boosting cooperation in security monitoring of common borders between Sudan and Libya, Niger and Chad began here Wednesday with the Sudanese team led the Head of Military Intelligence, General Jamal Omer.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Abdalla Idris, attended the opening session of the preparatory meeting which is being held at the level of experts.
The Minister of State stressed the important roles played by the committee to boost co-operation among the four countries, which are bound by ties of blood, history, geography and social relations which serve as incentives for further co-operation among them.
Gen Omer said the Committee of Experts would look into a joint judicial agreement, mechanism for co-ordinating and following up joint work, exchanges of information and setting up a joint operations centre.
He added that the overall objective of such work was to establish a security partnership, boost confidence among the four countries, secure the joint borders, combat terrorism and other movements, flows of drugs, trans-border crimes in addition to development of common border areas.
