MUSCAT: The newly opened Atana Musandam Resort, developed by the Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) has been named ‘The Best Sustainable Project’ during the recent Dossier Construction Awards & Summit 2014.
The event was held under the auspices of H E Eng Salim bin Mohammed al Naimi, Undersecretary for Transport in the Ministry of Transport and Communications at InterContinental Muscat.
The awards ceremony was attended by senior officials from companies in the construction, infrastructure, real estate, interiors and building materials’ sectors. The Atana Musandam Resort incorporates traditional and contemporary Omani architectural themes, and was designed and constructed in accordance to the prestigious LEED Green Building Certification criteria.
The best sustainable project award recognition underscores the merits of the project and the vital role Omran plays in developing innovative and sustainable tourism destinations with advanced environmental specifications. By implementing international professional standards in developing and managing projects, Omran ensures the operational efficiency of the project for years to come.
Commenting on the award received by the resort, Eng Wael al Lawati, CEO of Omran said, “At Omran we place a great emphasis on implementing sustainable measures and practices across all areas of our mandate, including economic, environmental, cultural and the community.

Highlighting the success of the hotel development, Pascal Eppink, managing director for the National Omani Hospitality Company, the operator for Atana Musandam, said, “We are proud that the resort has been recognised for its sustainability credentials, which reflect the guiding principles of the developer, as well as the day to day operation and management of the resort.
