MUSCAT: The Oman Cancer Association (OCA) will be organising its 11th annual walkathon at Qurm park on October 28.
‘Walk For The Cure’ will start at 4pm under the auspices of H E Dr Yahya bin Badar al Maawali, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Social Development. Along with the walkathon, OCA will organise several events to create awareness on the disease.
Addressing a press meet at the OCA headquarters on Monday, Yuthar al Rawahy, its founder and chairperson said, “October is the World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and here in the sultanate, we will also engage in some activities. There will be events, check-ups and consultations followed by a walkathon.” Interested participants can register for the walkathon at the OCA office, the Jawharat al Shatti mall, Qurum City Centre, Muscat City Centre or the Muscat Grand Mall for RO3.5.
OCA will station a mobile mammography unit at Qurum City Centre and Muscat Grand Mall one day per weekend, offering free examinations to women over 40 years. After the Eid holidays, doctors will conduct two examination sessions a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9am to 1pm, and from 4.30pm to 8pm, at the OCA headquarters.
