Dubai: The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment has dispatched a relief plane to Sudan, carrying 100 tonnes of relief materials to assist those affected by the floods across the country.
The move follows the directives by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Led by Saleh Zaher Saleh and Osman Mohammed Hassan, Logistics Supervisor, the Establishment delegation was seen off at the Dubai Airport by Mohammed Al Hassan, Consul General of Sudan in Dubai.
Counselor Ibrahim Bumelha, Deputy Board of Trustees Chairman of the Establishment said the relief was sent to Sudan to meet the needs of those affected by the heavy rains and floods, indicating that extensive areas in Eastern Sudan were damaged by the flood, which demolished 4, 000 houses and displaced thousands of people. Human and animals losses were also reported.
The Sudanese Consul thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his kind gesture.
