The gesture comes in the light of keenness of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to honour the UAE citizens who contributed to supporting the Union and had exerted huge sacrifices to send the UAE’s message of peace, security, stability and development to the world. The move is also a recognition to the deeds and sacrifices of the late Khalifa Al Mubarak through his march in serving the homeland.
H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, attended today the ceremony of renaming one of the Abu Dhabi streets, near the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, after the late Khalifa Al Mubarak. The ceremony was attended by the family of Al Mubarak. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development attended the event.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed praised the keenness of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, on honouring Emiratis who had exerted relentless efforts for the sake of this dear homeland, pointing out that generous gesture of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to commemorate Khalifa Al Mubarak “is a true symbol of gratefulness for the generation that devoted all their lives to the service of the UAE.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Nahyan also added that the UAE “is working tirelessly to support its citizens even those who passed away, as the UAE would continue to appreciate their efforts.” He added that the late Khalifa Al Mubarak had represented the UAE in a number of countries as an ambassador, and had exerted relentless efforts to bolster the UAE’s relations with those countries.
Among those who attended the event from the deceased family were Rasha Khalifa Al Mubarak, Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary General of Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and others.
Also present were Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, U.A.E. Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Dr. Tariq Ahmed AI Hidan, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organisations Affairs and other officials At the end of the ceremony, Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed posed for photos with the family of the late Khalifa Al Mubarak.
