MUSCAT: The Ministry of Health (MoH) issued a statement on Sunday cautioning people vulnerable to physical ailments against travelling for Hajj or Umrah.
The statement also added no cases of H1N1 and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) were recorded in the second half of August.
The ministry had issued a similar statement in June, advising patients of chronic ailments, pregnant women, children, elders and those with low immunity to postpone their Hajj pilgrimage this year.
MoH has again appealed to those planning Hajj and Umrah to take precautionary vaccines at its health centres. Pilgrims showing any symptoms of respiratory ailments – fever, cough, short breath – within two weeks of their return should immediately visit a hospital, the statement has said. It has reiterated the need to maintain personal hygiene.
