March 14 MPs call for deploying army along Lebanese Syrian borders

SEPTEMBER 3, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) March 14 MPs renewed their call today for deploying the Lebanese Army, and the UNIFIL when necessary, along the Lebanese Syrian borders in the North and Bekaa, in a way to abide by UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and prevent the infiltration of terrorists into Lebanon.

MPs Antoine Zahra, Ahmad Fatrfat and Atef Majdalani participated on Wednesday in a press conference for March 14 deputies at the House of Parliament, with Fatfat reading the outcome of the conference.

The outcome highlighted March 14’s earlier demands, since 2011, for deploying the army across the north and north eastern borders, but without finding a response by the Mikati-led cabinet hitherto, according to the movement, which has accordingly presented official documents to prove the availability of such demands.

March 14 wanted through this press conference to counter March 8 which was accusing March 14 of not accepting the deployment of army across the Lebanese Syrian borders, something that led to the cruel incidents of Arsal.
