MARA EXHIBITION ON ISLAM THROWS SPOTLIGHT ON MUSLIM PIONEERS IN SCIENCE AND ASTRONOMY

MUSCAT: A five-day exhibition on Islam under way at the Muscat Grand Mall will conclude on Tuesday. Organised by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs (MARA), the exhibition, ‘Co-existence and Tolerance’ is being held to promote Islam as a religion of scientific thoughts and practices.

This is the first time that we are holding such an exhibition in the mall. The response has been great so far and the visitors include both, Muslims and non-Muslims. The exhibition is different because our aim is to showcase Islam as a religion of scientific thoughts and practices. Hence, we have on display profiles of various Muslim scientists and astronomers including women scholars who have contributed to the development of science,” Khalid al Malik, the curator of the exhibition and a MARA official said.

The exhibition also displays verses from the Q’uran with special focus on family ties. Photographs depicting tolerance to other faiths, festivals and places of worship have also been displayed at the event. The event is open from 11am to 9pm.
