HONG KONG, Sept 29 – Kuwaiti Consul General in Hong Kong, Khalid Al-Mutairi, announced Monday, that all Kuwaitis are safe, during the rising tension and clashes between police and protesters.
Kuwait Consulate in Hong Kong is closely monitoring the conditions of Kuwaiti citizens, Al-Mutairi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) by telephone.
Moreover, the Consul called on all Kuwaitis to take extreme caution and to avoid the main streets, where the demonstrations are taking place.
He also advised Kuwaitis planning to visit Hong Kong, to stay away from central Hong Kong, where the protesters are gathering near the government’s headquarters.
Al-Mutairi noted that citizens should contact the Consulate in case of any emergency, or should they need more information regarding the current situation.
Last Saturday, a number of students and political activists have started demonstrations, demanding the Chinese government to end its rule, allowing Hong Kong to vet its top leader in the 2017 poll.
