Khartoum: A Kuwaiti cargo plane carrying humanitarian aid meant for the victims of flash floods across Sudan will land on Friday, said the Gulf state’s ambassador to Khartoum Bassam Al-Qabandi.
“Our efforts to come to the aid of the Sudanese people come upon the instructions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, ” the Kuwaiti diplomat told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday.
The Kuwaiti plane is laden with 40 tonnes of food to be delivered to the people of Sudan, he said, expressing hope that the aid would mitigate the misery they have experienced.
He thanked all concerned parties in Sudan for their efforts to allow unimpeded and timely delivery of the crucial aid across the impoverished nation.
Torrential rains and floods have battered Sudan for over a month, affecting nearly 200,000 people across 15 states, KUNA reported.
