In a decree on Tuesday evening, South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit appointed Albino Akol Atak as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
The post fell vacant in November last year after Kiir fired Peter Mayen Majongdit of the Other Political Parties (OPP) coalition, a party to the 2018 revitalized peace agreement.
Akol is OPP’s spokesperson and Secretary-General of the African National Congress (ANC).
