MUSCAT: Oman will be attending the GCC tourism ministries‘ meeting in Qatar on Wednesday. The sultanate’s delegation will be led by H E Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism.
The meeting aims at highlighting the joint efforts being exerted to support tourism in GCC countries, stated a press release. The meeting will discuss introduction of a unified tourist visa for GCC, significance of private participation in the tourism sector and setting up of a Gulf Federation for Handicrafts.
It will also mark the beginning of a unified tourism action plan for GCC. Besides a number of topics on cooperation in the field of tourism, the meeting will hold deliberations on how to upgrade tourism facilties in the region. Meanwhile, a preparatory meeting of undersecretaries for tourism affairs from GCC countries was held on Monday, the release added.
