Tunis): Tunisian President Kais Saied received on Sunday at the Carthage Presidency Palace Arab Interior Ministers on the side-line of 37th session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council in Tunisia.
The Tunisian President welcomed the Arab officials, highlighting the importance of those meetings in reinforcing regional security cooperation and joint Arab work in all fields. He wished success to those meetings to meet the inspirations of Arabs.
Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa chaired Bahrain’s delegation that took part in the session’s meetings held on Sunday and led by Sudanese Interior Minister, Lt-General El Tereifi Idris, head of the session.
The agenda of the session included various essential security topics, including the formation of a work team to monitor terrorist threats and immediate analysis of terrorist acts, the recommendations of conferences and meetings that held by the General Secretary in 2019 and the results of joint meetings with Arab and international organisations.
The council decided at the end of the session based on a proposal by the General Secretariat of the Prince Naif Award for Arab Security, led by His Royal Highness Saudi Interior Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the honorary President of the Council to grant the Prince Naif Medal for Arab Security to Interior Minister of Bahrain that is awarded to a security leader with distinguished and active role.
Interior Minister expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Saudi Interior Minister and the General Secretary of the award, expressing gratitude and pride for selecting him by the members of the General Secretariat.
He announced his pride to gift the medal to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for trusting him to lead the Interior Ministry, asserting the Royal directives of HM the King and support to achieve this high-security milestone.
He expressed happiness to get the medal that is named after the Late His Royal Highness Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who was dedicated to Arab Security.
The late official witnessed the formation of the council and led it since its commencement in the eighties of the last century. He said that when evaluating the current Arab security situations, we realise the views and Arabism of HRH Prince Naif.
He said that Arab security situation requires more participation in strategic security causes. He wished the council all the best and further cooperation.
General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa launched the e-service system designed by the Interior Ministry of Bahrain for the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, including a website, smart app and an interactive edition of the magazine of the General Secretariat. The system is part of the reinforcement of Arab security cooperation.
He expressed appreciation to the coordination role of the General Secretariat, highlighting that the initiative of the Interior Ministry comes out of the support to the Arab security cooperation goals and logistic backing to the General Secretariat.
In the same context, Interior Minister received Egyptian Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik, in which the meeting highlighted the strong brotherly ties between the two countries. He highlighted the honourable role of Egypt in promoting Arab security cooperation process.
He also met Jordanian Interior Minister, Salameh Hammad and discussed with him various security topics of common interest. He hailed the strong relations between the two brotherly nations.
He also met Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister, Ahmed bin Ahmed Maisari, hailing the strong ties between the two countries. The meeting reviewed security cooperation and coordination.
Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa Interior Minister was accompanied by Ambassador of Bahrain to Tunisia, Ebrahim Mahmood Abdullah and Interior Ministry officials.
