ID of UAE President makes it into world record book

WAM Abu Dhabi, 4 Dec. 2012 (WAM) — The Sultan bin Zayed Cultural and Media Center (CMC) has revealed the Largest ID card in the World holding UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s name and picture as part the national initiative ”Khalifa in World’s Languages”.

The launch of the card, which was recognised by Guinness World Records, was coincided with the UAE’s 41st national day.

Abdullah Al Muhairbi, Undersecretary of the President Representative’s Court, unveiled the feat card in a glittering ceremony staged at the Emirates Palace.

Addressing the gathering, Al Muhairbi said :”On this day which extends our celebration of the 41st National Day, we are honoured to reveal this National ID card which has now entered the Guinness Book of World Records as it is also considered the first idea of its kind in the book. The mega, record-breaking card expresses our love, gratitude and loyalty to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.” Musbeh Al Mismari, Director of Corporate Services and Support Sector, Emirates Identity Authority, the main sponsor of the “Khalifa in World Languages”, said the Emirates ID’s engagement in the national initiative aims at shedding the light on the importance of the ID card project and consolidating the concept of citizenship among the individuals of the society, thereby underscoring the Emirates ID’s role in rendering the ID card the most valuable and important card in the UAE and developing a world-class services organization.

Regional director of Guinness World Records, Talal Omar, said that the idea came form the Sultan bin Zayed Culture and Media Centre and is an identical copy of the original National ID card which meets all the standards required to break the world record.

The card is 1.4 metres long and 0.86 metres wide making it almost 20 times the size of the original National ID card. According to the Guinness representative, the UAE is in the lead among its Middle Eastern counterparts as it currently holds 110 world records.

The national initiative aims at expressing allegiance to the leader through writing his name in all languages of the world, as well as highlighting the UAE’s culture and national identity.” The project also includes the electronic encyclopaedia �Khalifa in World languages’, which is a hi-tech website containing the biography of Sheikh Khalifa, the achievements made by UAE and their translation in different languages.
