HM’S CUP TO BE RENAMED SULTAN QABOOS INDUSTRIAL EXCELLENCE AWARD

MUSCAT: H E Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry said on Tuesday that his ministry is planning to rename His Majesty’s Cup award for best five factories to the Sultan Qaboos Industrial Excellence Award.

Instituted in 1991 the award, held once every two years, will be given away on February 9 to mark Industrial Day.

H E Sunaidy said that the ministry is honoured to conduct such a competition, which has been instituted under the name of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The competition allows all large, medium and small factories to compete, discover their strengths and develop and improve their performance.

The framework of the evaluation consists of nine criteria. Of these, five are related to operations carried out by industrial establishments and the other four are related to results and achievements.

H E Sunaidy said that the ministry, in cooperation with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, has also started a promotional campaign for the award which aims to encourage establishments to participate in the competition. It will include holding a number of workshops in Raysut Industrial Estate, Rusayl Industrial Estate and Sohar Industrial Estate.

These workshops will be organised to inform companies of the trends and developments in the field
