SALALAH, Oman, The Directorate General of Health Services, in the Governorate of Dhofar celebrated the Gulf Nursing Day, at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Centre for Culture and Entertainment, in Salalah.
The ceremony was sponsored by Sheikh Salim bin Oufait al-Shanfari, Head of Dhofar Municipality, in the presence of Salim bin Ali al-Shukaily, Director General of Health Services in the Governorate, and Dr. Majid bin Rashid al-Muqbali, Director General of the Directorate General of Nursing Affairs, at the Ministry of Health.
Salim bin Zahir al-Mughni, Director of the Nursing Department in the Governorate, said in a speech that, the Sultanate’s interest in the nursing profession is through the opening of nursing institutes, to provide qualified health care staff to health institutions.
He pointed out that, time programmes and working mechanisms have been put in place to develop nursing services, develop the skills of the employees and hold refresher courses and symposia, to learn about what is new in the nursing profession, because it is important as an essential part in the health field and work, to ensure the quality of nursing service provided to patients.
The celebration included a presentation on the profession of nursing in the Sultanate, and the various functions and specialities of nursing staff within the health institution. It also includes art and poetry performances, about the profession of nursing and the noble role it provides to society.
At the end of the event the patron of the occasion honoured the outstanding employees in the nursing profession and its supporting groups and a number of participating companies.
