SEPTEMBER 3, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Former President, Amine Gemayel welcomed Wednesday before noon at his Bikfaya residence president of the Defense Commission of the Italian Senate, Nicola Latorre, accompanied by Italy’s Ambassador to Lebanon Giuseppe Morabito. Discussions reportedly featured high on developments in Lebanon and the region as well as Italian efforts to support Lebanon at the current difficult stage.
Talks also tackled the UNIFIL’s role in the South and possibility of widening the UNFIL’s mission to include the Lebanese- Syrian border area at the eastern mountain range, a statement by Gemayel’s office said.
They also discussed support to Lebanon to confront the current financial and economic crisis.
Latorre said in the wake of the meeting that they exchanged opinions and assess the situation in Lebanon and the region, wishing a new President would be elected soon.
