MUSCAT: The ninth Food and Hospitality Oman exhibition and the fourth Oman Health Exhibition & Conference opened on Tuesday at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

The expo was inaugurated by H E Dr Ahmed bin Nasser bin Abdullah al Bakri, undersecretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

The Food and Hospitality Oman exhibition this year has made arrangements to enable international companies and brands to directly connect with potential buyers and partners in the local market as well as tap business opportunities in Oman.

The exhibition is also showcasing more than 200 local and global brands, and features pavilions of Italy, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and Iran.

Raqi A, an Iraqi exhibitor said, “We have seen that the hospitality industry is gaining a foothold in Oman. It is a good opportunity for us to penetrate the market.”

Bogdan Prunila, an exhibitor of an Omani beverage said, “Our product has been making a buzz in the exhibition since morning. Most of the people have liked it. I am happy with the response.”

Visitors can see the culinary skills of aspiring cooks, professional chefs and baristas throughout the three-day Professional Chefs Competition, Oman Barista Competition and the Best Chef Oman contest, part of the exhibition. These events are aimed at advancing the food and hospitality sector in the country while also promoting local talent, and Omani and international cuisine.
