JULY 10, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Member of Parliament Ahmad Fatfat said on Thursday that he had full trust that the cabinet would find an appropriate legal solution to pay state employees their monthly wages.
Fatfat considered that the solution for the Lebanese University file looms in the horizon, pointing to the presence of a small difficulty related to the deans’ issue, which is under discussion between the Minister of Education and MP Walid Jumblatt.
Commenting on the issues of the ranks and salary scale and official exams correction, the MP said in a radio interview that the “salary scale comes within the context of urgent legislation.”
The lawmaker added that the point of disagreement over this file revolved around increasing the value added tax (VAT) by %1, noting that this increase will secure revenues to the scale.
Talking about the election of a new President, the lawmaker said that this issue “is a priority,” wishing a new President would be elected before the legislation session convenes.
