MUSCAT: A vegetable and fruits wholesaler in Rusayl has accused two persons whom he had recruited, of cheating him of RO3,000
Speaking to Muscat Daily, owner of Murtafa Haram Trading, Khalid Kunnumail said, “I had a function to attend in Muscat on August 28 and had left the business in their charge.”
Kannumail identified the two as Rashid (25) and Mohammed Rashid (26).
“I had asked them to hand over a box to a salesperson who was to be on the truck bringing a consignment of bananas that day. I did not tell them that the box had RO3,000 in it.”
The salesperson did not arrive with the consignment, and the two disappeared with the box containing the money, he alleged. “I registered a complaint with the Seeb police. I have also filed an absconding persons’ report with the Ministry of Manpower,” he said.
The two accused were hired upon request from another employee of the firm. “They joined in June for a salary of RO180 each per month besides perks.”
The passports and residence cards of the accused are with Kannumail.
“These documents are in my possession. The person who had requested me to hire them too is not responding to calls. I suspect someone else is also involved,” he said.
Seeb police officials said they are looking for the accused.
