Doha, September 12 (QNA) – Doha hosts the Fifth International Conference For Rehabilitation International (RI) – Arab Region under the theme “Together for a Better World for all.. Including Persons with Disabilities in Development” from 24 to 27 September 2012.
Following the signing of a Sponsorship Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar Fertilizer Company (QAFCO) today to fund the biannual event, Vice President of RI (Arab Region) said this year’s theme was inspired from the United Nations’ (UN) International Day of Persons with Disabilities for 2011.
The four-day event will discuss means of enabling, integrating and protecting the Disabled individuals in order to achieve equal opportunities as an integral part of sustainable development strategies, he explained.
He further underlined the need to provide this segment with all available opportunities as well as guaranteeing them equal rights in fields of health, education and employment, especially in the poor regions with limited resources.
Around 300 participants are expected to attend the conference while the recommendations will be forwarded to the Arab League for implementation.
For his part, QAFCO vice-chairman and CEO, Khalifa Abdulla Al- Suwaidi confirmed that QAFCO’s sponsorship of the conference comes as part of its commitment to support the efforts being exerted by the state of Qatar to integrate people with special needs into the society in a way that they would be able to become self-sufficient in all life attributes.
