Derbas rules out data about providing Syrian refugees with Lebanese travel documents

JULY 10, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Social Affairs Minister, Rashid Derbas, on Thursday denied information about providing Syrian refugees in Lebanon with Lebanese travel documents.

Interviewed by the Voice of Lebanon radio station, the Minister also ruled out agreement over officially setting up Syrian refugee camps on Lebanese territories.

“The grave negligence over the last three years has led to the random construction of refugee camps on Lebanese territories,” Derbas said.

He also noted that setting up refugee camps in buffer zones entailed an international security guarantee, as well as the approval and financial support of the United Nations.
