Syria participates in Alexandria Film Festival

Syria participated in the 39th edition of the Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries through the short feature film Laila’s Passion and the Nobleman (Shaghaf Laila and Al-Shahm) directed by Khaled Othman.

The film is produced by the National Film Organization tell the story of the life of a family in which the fates of the characters struggle between the selfishness of the husband and the ambition of the wife, and their daughter pays the price.

A total of 120 films from 25 countries will participates in the festival which kicked off today until October 5th.

International Flower Show 2023 to be kicked soon, Damascus

Tourism Ministry are preparing to launch the 43the International Flower Show on August 30th.

The Show will be held between Aug 30th and Sep 9th.

17 local, Arab and foreign companies specialized in flowers and plants will participate at the exhibition, in addition to some 100 participants of nurserymen, honey producers, and those planting aromatic and medicinal plants.

The show will be held on an area of 5,000 square metres.

Jordan, Egypt’s culture ministers hold symposium on culture, art

Minister of Culture Haifaa Najjar said, “We have a lot of vocabulary and heritage elements in the Arab world, which are among the richest elements in the world, and we must protect this heritage and its privacy by empowering people.”

In a symposium as part of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts in 37, Najjar discussed looking at culture as one of the “most important” inputs of economic development.

In the symposium, held in Amman and moderated by the CEO of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, Valentina Kassisieh, Najjar expressed hope to see an Arab solidarity project adopting cultural commonalities to present them to international organisations.

Egyptian Minister of Culture Nevin Kilani lauded the choice of Egypt to be the guest of honour at the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, describing the festival as “one of the most important international festivals that deals with local and Arab heritage in general.”

Kilani said that the Arab identity has a “very great specificity in terms of heritage,” noting that heritage in the Egyptian Ministry of Culture has a great priority.

Activities of 11th Delbeh Festival in Mashta Al Hilu kick off

Activities of the 11th al-Delbeh Festival for Culture and Arts in Mashta al-Hilu started under the title “Echo of Berries and Silk.

The festival is organized by Culture Ministry in cooperation with the Foundation for the Cultural Charity Forum, civil and expatriate activities in Mashta al-Hilu.

The festival, that will last until Saturday, include cultural, musical and plastic art activities and it will display natural silk products and a live show of silkworms, in addition to sports activities hosted by Mashta Al-Hilu and Delbeh squares and the Silk Factory.

Director of the festival, Wael Sabbagh, told SANA that locals of the tourist town remember the days of the silk factory, when mulberry trees were spread throughout the area lands , pointing out that the silk industry is still there in the people’s memory through the sound of factory bell.

“Today, we evoke silk, which symbolizes a long history and great importance that grandparents moved to their children,” as Sabbagh says.

The first day of the festival includes a show of natural silk products, in addition to a 24-hour film about the Syrian silk journey in al-Dalba Square, and a live show of silkworm breeding.

Syrian film wins Best Screenplay Award at Casablanca Film Festival

Syrian narrative film, Youssef (José’s Journey) won the Best screenplay Award in the Narrative Competition at the fourth edition of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival.

The film “Youssef’s Journey” directed by Joud Saíd, competed with 13 films, and tells the journey of a grandfather carrying his grandson in search of a lost hope for a better life.

The aforementioned festival, organized by Imtidad Association for the Culture and Development of Morocco, began on June 16.

KAFD organizes Jordanian pavilion at Dubai gaming expo

The Jordan Gaming Lab, a King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) project, in cooperation with its technical partner the Maysalward Foundation, organized a Jordanian pavilion at the GameExpo summit, which kicked off in Dubai on Wednesday. According to a KAFD press release on Thursday, the expo will be held for two days as part of the Dubai Esports and Games Festival (DEF 2023) and will see the participation of the Al Hussein Technical University and the Babil and Madhawk Games companies in the Jordanian pavilion. The fund also supported the participation of the (Kenda Art) Foundation, which benefits from the support window for electronic game developers to allow it to network with international companies. The summit, sponsored by Pocket Gamer Connects, brings together a group of regional and international experts, thinkers and industry leaders to exchange experiences, discuss ways of joint cooperation and partnerships and explore available investment opportunities to promote the growth of the gaming and digital sports sector. The summit was attended by more than 700 prominent personalities and included a series of interactive activities and discussion sessions that were held with the participation of more than 100 speakers and thinkers to shed light on the latest trends in the sector at the level of the Middle East, North Africa and the world.
