Syrian boxer qualifies for semi-finals at the 19th Asian Games

Syrian boxer Ahmad Ghassoun defeated his Tajik rival Shabbos Negmatulloev today, and qualified for the semifinals of the 80 kg category in the competitions of the 19th Asian Games currently held in the Chinese city, Hangzhou.

Boxer Ghassoun had beaten his South Korean rival Kim Jinjea, in his first fight, with a score of 3-0.

Jordan basketball squad dominates Bahrain in Asian Games

In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, the Jordan men’s national basketball team on Thursday claimed victory over Bahrain with a commanding score of 84-60 in the ongoing 19th edition of the Asian Games, hosted by the city of Hangzhou, China. This triumph solidifies their position atop Group 3. The national team had previously secured a win against Thailand, further bolstering their standing with 4 points, surpassing the Philippines based on point differentials. As the group stage nears its conclusion, Jordan’s national team will face the Philippines in their final group match this coming Saturday. The outcome of this crucial encounter will determine direct qualification to the quarterfinals, with the victor securing a coveted spot. Meanwhile, the defeated squad will compete in a playoff match for a chance to advance to the quarterfinal stage. Shifting focus to Taekwondo, Jordan’s team concluded their participation in the Asian Games today, with both Rama Abu Al-Rab and Anas Sadiq encountering defeats. However, the Taekwondo team managed to secure two silver medals through the outstanding performances of Zaid Mustafa and Saleh Al-Shurbati, as well as a bronze medal by Zaid Al-Halawani. Despite the setbacks, the national Taekwondo athletes have showcased their remarkable skills and resilience throughout the competition.

Prince Faisal crowns Taekwondo team player Sharbati with silver medal at Asian Games

The President of the Jordanian Olympic Committee and member of the Executive Bureau of the International Olympic Committee, Prince Faisal Al Hussein, crowned the national taekwondo team player, Saleh Sharbati, with the silver medal Wednesday evening. Prince Faisal attended the coronation of our national team player Zaid Mustafa with the silver medal in the under-86 kg competition at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. Prince Faisal congratulated the national team players on their wins, praising the development of Jordanian taekwondo and the increase in the Jordanian tally in this edition of the Games to three medals after the national taekwondo team player Zaid Halwani had been crowned Tuesday with the bronze medal in the underweight competition 63 kg. The national Taekwondo team will conclude its participation in the Asian Games tomorrow, where Rama Abu Al Rub and Anas Sadiq will participate in their weight group competitions.

In the presence of President al-Assad and First Lady,Mrs. Asma al-Assad, the 19th Asian Games opened in China’s Hangzhou

In the presence of President Bashar al-Assad and First Lady,Mrs. Asma al-Assad, the 19th Asian Games was officially opened on Saturday in China’s Hangzhou.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, a number of presidents of states, international sports officials, and heads of participating delegations, in addition to eighty thousand spectators attended the opening ceremony.

The Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium is lighted during the opening ceremony ,in addition to a parade of participating sports delegations.

The Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Raja Randhir Singh highlighted the efforts of the Organizing Committee for the Asian Games through its preparations for the continental sports festival.

Head of the Syrian sports delegation participating in the Asian Games indicated that the Syrian athletes will compete in the individual games, expressing confidence in them to achieve an important achievement in the competitions.

A total of 12,000 athletes from 45 countries will be in action in 40 sports at the continental meet.

This is the 11th participation of Syria in the Asian tournaments, which were first organized in New Delhi, India, in 1951.

Syrian participation in the Asian tournaments began in 1978 in the Thai city of Bangkok.

Syria participates in five games with athletes Ahmad Ghassoun and Muhammad Melis competing in boxing , Maan Asaad in weightlifting, Omar Sarem and Naal Barazi in wrestling , Majd al-Din Ghazal in high jump ,and Ahamad Hamshu and Omro Hamshu in equestrianism.

The Asian Games will continue until October 8th, 2023.

Syrian sporting stars are strongly present at Hangzhou Asian Games to be kicked tomorrow

Huge number of athletes representing 40 countries will participate at Asian Games to be started in china on Saturday at 20:00 , Chinese local time, and at 15:00 at Damascus time.

Syria is participating at the Asian Games this year through five sports: equestrian, weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, and athletics.

This is Syria’s eleventh participation in the Asian Games, which were first organized in New Delhi, India, in 1951. Syrian participation in the Asian tournaments began in 1978 in the Thai city of Bangkok.

Syria’s medal tally in the Asian Games is 34 medals, 10 gold, 7 silver, and 17 bronze.

Syrian Olympic football team leaves Asian Cup qualifiers after losing to the Jordanian team

The Syrian Olympic football team left the qualifiers of U-23 Asian Cup by losing the match to its Jordanian counterpart by 2-0 goals on Tuesday, in the Jordanian city of Zarqa in the final round of the qualifiers for Group A.

At the end of the qualifiers, The Syrian team came third with 3 points, the Omani team at the second place by 6 points, while the Jordanian one came first with 9 points and qualified for the Asian finals.

Syria’s U-23 team lost to its Omani counterpart in the first round with 2- 0 goals and beat Brunei team in the second match by 11-0 goals.
