KHARTOUM, Sudan’s First Vice-President and Prime Minister, Lieutenant-General Bakri Hassan Salih, held discussions here Tuesday with the British Minister of State for Africa and for International Development, Harriett Baldwin on relations between Sudan and Britain and ways of strengthening them further.
In a press statement she issued after the meeting, Baldwin said that she told the First Vice-President that Britain welcomed the efforts of Sudan to bring together the warring sides of the South Sudan conflict which culminated in the signing of South Sudan peace agreement in Khartoum on Sunday.
She indicated that during the meeting they reviewed the progress of the relations between Sudan and Britain which had witnessed remarkable progress in the past period.
She hoped that the near future would witness improved relations between the two countries in the context of the strategic dialogue which have yielded satisfactory results for both countries.
Baldwin also called on Vice-President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahman and discussed with him the situation in the Darfur region of western Sudan and the peace process there, adding that she would visit Darfur on Wednesday.
