Berri reiterates rejection of extending House mandate

SEPTEMBER 3, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, on Wednesday renewed his refusal to extend the mandate of the current Parliament, saying such step only means the extension of paralysis and vacuum.

Deputies quoted the Speaker today as sounding the alarm on the danger of vacuum inside the institutions.

They revealed that he was the first to sign the document of the Islamic spiritual and political leaders that condemned attacks on Christians and that confirmed work on preserving the presence of Christians in the region.

Separately, the Speaker met today with Minister of Education and Higher Learning, Elias Bou Saab.

He also met with former Minister Albert Mansour with whom he discussed the current general situation.

Moreover, Berri met with at Ain-el-Tineh with MP Michel Murr over most recent developments.
