MUSCAT: In line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme and demonstrating its ongoing support towards charitable causes and the local community, Bank Sohar recently supported the Al Wafa Social Centre for Children with Disabilities in Salalah by assisting the Centre in the purchase of various sports and physiotherapy equipment as well as various educational tools and games for children.
The support, in the form of a cheque was handed over at Bank Sohar’s branch in Salalah to a representative member from Al Wafa Social Centre for Children with Disabilities, by Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM, human resources and corporate support at Bank Sohar, in the presence of Mazin al Raisi, AGM, head of marketing and publicity, Bank Sohar.
Commenting on the bank’s contribution, Munira said, “Since inception, Bank Sohar has always given great importance to various community service programmes, adopting it as a core part of its corporate philosophy. As a result, the bank actively supports several charitable organisations in various regions of the sultanate; having recently initiated similar programmes within the Salalah region.
“Al Wafa Social Centre for Children with Disabilities has devoted a lot of energy and resources to foster the development and wellbeing of our children and youth, and has continually provided them with crucial support in order to help cope with their disabilities.
“The Centre has also helped change any lingering discriminatory attitudes within the area, further strengthening the community. We sincerely hope the donation will facilitate the Centre’s tasks and will help them provide better services for the children.”
In addition to the Al Wafa Social Centre for Children with Disabilities in Salalah, Bank Sohar has supported a broad range of organisations across the sultanate in the current year, including the Al Noor Association for the Blind’s Sohar, Muscat and Salalah branches, Dar al Atta’a, Oman Road Safety Association, Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disabilities, Creative Centre for Rehabilitation, and Oman Association for the Disabled. Bank Sohar’s CSR initiatives have become an integral part of its operational strategy and as a result, it has received several accolades for its CSR efforts over the past years, both regionally and internationally. The bank also plans to continue in its steadfast quest of philanthropy with many more donations and charitable events planned for the current year.
Meanwhile, Noor Ba’Omar, supervisor of Al Wafa Social Centre for Children with Disabilities thanked Bank Sohar for its support.
